SIRNAK, Turkey (AA) - Four PKK terrorists have been killed in a military operation on Monday in Turkey's southeastern and eastern provinces, security sources told Anadolu Agency.
The Turkish army launched operations in the southeast's Sirnak and the east's Van provinces after military intelligence learned terrorists were planning to attack, security sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking with the media, said.
Two female terrorists were killed in the operations in the Silopi district of Sirnak while two other PKK terrorists were killed in the Ipekyolu district of Van.
The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU -- resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July last year. Since then, more than 600 security personnel have been martyred and more than 7,000 PKK terrorists killed.
