ISTANBUL (AA) - Forty-one people died and nine people went missing after floods ravaged central Vietnam this week, according to the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention.

More than 52,000 houses were flooded in the area, and thousands of hectares of crops, along with livestock and poultry, were also lost to the floodwaters, local media outlet VN Express reported, citing the department.

Dak Lak, with 16 deaths, and Khanh Hoa, with 14, were the provinces that suffered the most casualties.

More than 1 million customers also lost power due to the severe weather, though electricity has since been restored to about 600,000 households. Over 140 landslides occurred on provincial roads.

Thousands of personnel and police officers have been deployed to respond to the situation.
