ATHENS (AA) – At least five people were killed and four others injured when a train derailed late Saturday in northern Greece.
The train was headed from Athens to Thessaloniki and derailed a just outside of Thessaloniki for reasons that remain unknown, the Trainose railway company said in a statement published on its website.
The driver is among those injured and is in critical condition at the hospital, the company added.
About 70 passengers were on board when the train left the tracks and crashed into a house, according to local media.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident and traffic has been restored.
