ANKARA (AA) - At least five people were killed after being washed away in floods in south China's Guangdong province, state news agency Xinhua reported on Sunday.
The incident occurred in a wild section of Huidong county, where the victims went missing on Friday after being washed away by turbulent waters.
After receiving the report, local authorities promptly organized rescue operations, which, however, faced difficulties due to the complex terrain and the turbulent water flow.
Low nighttime visibility, numerous river undercurrents, and continuous heavy rainfall in recent days also compounded rescue challenges.
All five missing people were located on Sunday afternoon with no vital signs.
A total of over 1,300 rescue personnel took part in the search and rescue operations.
