ISTANBUL (AA) - An explosion at a steel plant in northern China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region on Sunday has resulted in six deaths, with four people still unaccounted for, according to the on-site emergency rescue team on Monday.
Rescue operations are ongoing at the site of the blast, which occurred at a Baogang United Steel plant in western Baotou City, state-run Xinhua News reported.
The explosion, which originated from a 650-cubic-meter (nearly 23,000 cubic feet) saturated water and steam spherical tank, occurred around 3 pm (0700GMT) on Sunday.
Earlier, Xinhua reported that 84 people were injured and hospitalized following the explosion.
The State Council's Work Safety Commission is leading the investigation into the cause of the incident.
