JOHANNESBURG (AA) - A tanker truck explosion early Friday killed at least 73 people and injured more than 100 others in Mozambique, reports say.
The blast occurred in Tete province, a border city close to the landlocked state of Malawi where the truck was headed from Mozambique’s Beira port city.
The injured were immediately sent to nearby hospitals, but more casualties are feared.
Mozambique is one of the poorest countries in the world, plagued with an acute water crisis.
