ABUJA, Nigeria - Eight soldiers were killed Wednesday in an attack by the Daesh-affiliated terrorist group ISWAP in northeastern Nigeria, according to national media reports.
A military official said ISWAP members attacked a military base in the village of Kauwa in Borno state.
The official said 23 other soldiers were injured in the assault.
Nigeria has faced years of violence from armed gangs and terrorist groups, including Boko Haram and ISWAP, in several parts of the country.
