'Israeli occupation deliberately aims to undermine health care infrastructure in northern Gaza,' says Health Ministry spokesperson

GAZA, Palestine (AA) - A total of 800,000 Palestinians in the northern part of the Gaza Strip are currently without health coverage, the Gaza-based Ministry of Health said Wednesday.

The ministry warned against what it termed as "acts of genocide committed by Israel in the northern Gaza Strip."

The Israeli occupation deliberately aims to undermine health care infrastructure in northern Gaza, Ashraf Al-Qudra, the spokesperson for the ministry, said in a statement on X.

The capacity of Al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza City has been exceeded due to the large number of wounded people transferred to the facility, Al-Qudra said in a separate statement Wednesday, appealing for international support and protection against Israel's intensified bombardment.

The ministry said Tuesday that more than 400,000 Palestinians in northern Gaza are now completely without medical services as the genocide against the Palestinian people grinds on.

Israel resumed its military offensive on the Gaza Strip on Friday after the end of a weeklong humanitarian pause with the Palestinian group Hamas.

At least 16,248 Palestinians have been killed and more than 43,616 others injured in relentless air and ground attacks on the enclave since Oct. 7 following a cross-border attack by Hamas.

The Israeli death toll in the Hamas attack stood at 1,200, according to official figures.
