TEXAS (AA) - A crash between a train and a bus left nine people dead and 10 others injured in Queretaro, Mexico on Friday.
Local officials have blamed the accident on the bus driver for being “reckless.” The driver reportedly tried to outrun the train at a cross section.
Eight of the injured are considered in grave condition.
Local media has reported that some of the people who died were college students from nearby universities.
The crash took place Friday morning in San Juan del Rio, a city north of Mexico City and in the state of Queretaro. The state civil defense office posted on their social media accounts that the roads were reopened on Friday afternoon.
Alma Lilia Perez Mosqueda, the press secretary of the office, said that the bus was owned by a private entity and was not used for public transportation.
