BEIJING (AA) – At least nine people have been killed and 11 others injured after a bus crashed into the side of an expressway in southwest China.
State news agency Xinhua reported Sunday that four of the victims died at the site in Guizhou province Saturday night, while five others succumbed to their injuries in hospital.
Of the 11 still receiving treatment, four suffered serious injuries in the incident, during which the bus had been carrying 39 people.
The accident remains under investigation.
This year has witnessed several fatal road accidents involving buses across the country.
Last month, a long-distance bus careened off an expressway in north China after breaking the guardrail on the Tianjin-Jixian expressway and landed in a water-filled ditch, killing 26 of the 30 people on board.
