9 killed by attacks in Iraqi capital

Unidentified assailants break into a home and kill seven people, including two women and three children

BAGHDAD (AA) – At least nine people have been killed by attacks in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad on Saturday, including the families of two soldiers.

Brigadier General Nazim al-Zamli told Anadolu Agency that unidentified assailants broke into the home of two army soldiers in the al-Tarmia district. The assailants opened fire and killed the soldiers, their two wives and three children.

Meanwhile, two civilians were also killed and seven others injured in two improvised bombs attacks in the al-Sayidiya and al-Doura areas.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attacks though Iraqi officials often blame the attacks on the Daesh terrorist group, which seized vast swathes of territory in Iraq in 2014.
