Africa Cup of Nations: Ghana, Cameroon go to last 16

Two teams qualify for knockout stage with 5 points each in Group F

ANKARA (AA) - Prominent football teams Ghana and Cameroon qualified for the knockout stage of the Africa Cup of Nations on Tuesday as the group stages in the tournament ended.

In Tuesday's Group F match, Ghana beat Guinea-Bissau 2-0 at Suez Stadium in Egypt as Jordan Ayew and Thomas Partey scored.

The other match of the group was held between Benin and Cameroon, which ended in a 0-0 draw.

Ghana and Cameroon, who have five points each in the group, advanced to the last 16.

Ghana were the Group F winners and Cameroon were runners-up in the group table.

The other Group F team, Benin, managed to be among the last 16 teams as they are one of the four best third-place nations in the tournament.

Benin has three points in the group.

The top two nations from six groups and the four best third-place nations will qualify for the round of 16.

- Mali, Tunisia bag last 16 tickets

Group E teams Mali and Tunisia also qualified for the round of 16.

Mali beat Angola 1-0 to top Group E as Amadou Haidara scored the winning goal.

In the other Group E match, Tunisia drew against Mauritania 0-0.

Mali leads the group with seven points.

In addition to Mali, Tunisia went through to the last 16 despite having only three points in the standings.
