ALGIERS (AA) – A military aircraft crashed near the capital Algiers on Wednesday, amid reports of casualties.
The aircraft went down near an airport at Boufarik in Bilda province, less than 20 miles from Algiers, according to the local Ennahar television channel.
The channel, citing security sources, said the plane had been transporting dozens of troops and equipment when it crashed.
TV footage showed a huge plume of black smoke billowing from the area.
There was no comment from Algerian authorities on the crash.
