ALGIERS/ISTANBUL (AA) – Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune met on Sunday with US President Donald Trump’s special adviser for Africa, Massad Boulos.
A presidency statement said the meeting was also attended by senior Algerian officials, including Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf, and US Ambassador Elizabeth Moore Aubin.
No details, however, were provided about the content of the talks.
Earlier on Sunday, Boulos had a private meeting with Attaf, where they discussed ways to boost bilateral ties in the defense, energy, agriculture, and higher education sectors, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Boulos had visited Tunisia and Libya for talks with officials there as part of his current regional tour.
The US adviser’s visit to Algeria came days after Trump’s announcement of 30% tariffs on Algerian goods on July 9.
The tariffs are expected to come into effect in August.
