TEHRAN (AA) - Iran’s parliament Wednesday elected Ali Larijani as assembly speaker for his third consecutive term in office.
The vote, held by parliament's 290-seat general assembly, was between Larijani, Mohammed Reza Aref and Hamid Reza Haji Babai.
None of the nominees were able to win enough votes in a first round of voting, in which Babai was eliminated.
Larijani won a second round of voting, clinching 147 out of 279 votes cast.
