Almost half of EU citizens see extreme right as threat

Survey results by global public opinion company reveal growing discomfort among Europeans toward rising far-right

BRUSSELS (AA) – Almost half of EU citizens see extreme right as a threat, according to a survey result published Monday by a global public opinion and data company.

A survey conducted by YouGov in eight European countries found that 43% of respondents perceived the rise of the extreme right across the continent as a threat.

The company conducted surveys in Germany, France, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Poland, Sweden and Hungary with approximately 8,000 people.

Germany with 56% came to the fore as the country with the highest threat perception of the rise of the far right, followed by Sweden with 48% and Spain with 45%.
