ANKARA (AA) – A Ukrainian AN-26 plane crashed in the war-torn country’s southeast on Friday during a “technical flight,” said the regional military administration, reporting casualties.
"This morning, an AN-26 plane crashed in the Vilniansk district of the Zaporizhzhia region. The aircraft was performing a technical flight. There are casualties," the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration said in a Telegram post.
Saying the circumstances of the incident are being clarified, the announcement gave no further details on the cause of the crash or the number or nature of casualties.
On the banks of the Dnieper River, the city is near the eastern Donbas region, the site of a renewed Russian offensive in its nearly two-month-old war on Ukraine, killing tens of thousands, and displacing millions.
