ISTANBUL (AA) - Anadolu Agency's Persian Desk Editor Hikmet Gok met the new managing director of Iranian state newswire IRNA, Sayyed Zia Hashemi, in capital Tehran on Monday during which both sides affirmed long-standing ties between the two agencies.
"We hope to develop our relations with IRNA during the new administration's period," Gok said.
About the importance of Iran for Turkey, he said: "It is important for Anadolu Agency to follow news from Iran.
“Stories from Iran are considered important in Turkey. For that reason, developing relations with IRNA will expedite the news feed."
In his remarks, Hashemi said: "Anadolu Agency and IRNA, which has a great place in the Islamic world, are the most important media outlets of the two countries.
“These institutions could play an important role in drawing the people of the two countries closer."
