ANKARA (AA) – Anadolu Agency is here with a rundown of the latest developments on the coronavirus pandemic and other news in Turkey and around the world.

- Coronavirus and other developments in Turkey

Turkey reported over 40,000 more coronavirus cases.

A total of 40,444 cases, including 2,728 symptomatic patients, were confirmed across the country, according to the latest Health Ministry data.

Turkey’s overall COVID-19 tally is now over 4.75 million, while the nationwide death toll rose by 341 over the past day to 39,398.

As many as 45,198 more patients won the battle against the virus, taking the total number of recoveries past 4.2 million.

More than 46.7 million coronavirus tests have been done in Turkey to date, with 283,261 more done since Tuesday.

Turkey signed an agreement to receive 50 million doses of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine over six months starting in May, the country's health minister said.

Pakistan registered 201 deaths from the coronavirus, the highest single-day amount since the start of the pandemic last year, said the Health Ministry.

British Health Secretary Matt Hancock announced that the UK has purchased 60 million extra doses of the Pfizer vaccine.

Kenya's Ministry of Health reported 23 new coronavirus-related deaths and 834 new infections after conducting 8,498 tests.

Kenya’s Health Minister suspended flights to and from India for 14 days following an uproar on social media that demanded the East African nation take action against the coronavirus.

The variant of the coronavirus wreaking havoc in India has been discovered in Andalusia in the south of Spain, regional Health Minister Jesus Aguirre said.

Brazil registered 3,163 coronavirus deaths and nearly 80,000 cases in the past 24 hours, authorities said.

Bangladesh approved the production of Chinese and Russian coronavirus vaccines locally, according to official sources.

At least 755 people have been killed since Myanmar’s Feb. 1 coup as the military continues to use brutal methods to quell anti-coup protests, said a local monitoring group.
