ISTANBUL (AA) - Anadolu Agency is here with a rundown of the latest developments in Turkey, around the world and the coronavirus pandemic.

Turkey has administered nearly 88.4 million coronavirus vaccine doses since launching a mass immunization campaign in January, according to official figures.

The Health Ministry said more than 45.8 million people have received the first dose of a vaccine, while an excess of 34.9 million is now fully vaccinated.

Turkey has also given a booster shot to more than 7.5 million people.

The ministry also confirmed 19,351 new infections and 232 coronavirus-related deaths in the last 24 hours, while as many as 13,163 more patients recovered.

The Turkish president in a telephone call with the German chancellor warned of a possible wave of migration if necessary measures are not taken in Afghanistan and Iran.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, discussed the situation in Afghanistan in a telephone call.

Erdogan and Putin agreed to “strengthen bilateral coordination on the Afghan issue,” the Kremlin said in a statement.

Turkey has raised security measures along its border with Iran through further reinforcements deployed in the region against irregular migration, said authorities.


- Worldwide developments related to COVID-19

More than 4.91 billion doses of vaccines have been administered worldwide, according to Our World in Data, a tracking website affiliated with Oxford University.

Japan has gifted more than 781,000 more shots of Oxford-AstraZeneca's vaccine to Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Embassy in Japan said in a statement.

Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi warned of the gravity of the health situation in the country due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) warned of a critical drinkable water shortage for millions in Lebanon.

Israeli warplanes carried out airstrikes on several locations in the besieged Gaza Strip.

A total of 41 Palestinians and an Israeli soldier were wounded in demonstrations held on the border of the blockaded Gaza Strip on the 52nd anniversary of the burning of Masjid al-Aqsa by a fanatical Jew in 1969.
