ANKARA (AA) – Anadolu Agency is here with a rundown of the latest developments on the coronavirus pandemic and other news in Turkiye and around the world.
Turkiye has evacuated 11,841 citizens from Ukraine since Russia launched a war on its neighbor, according to the Turkish foreign minister.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke by phone with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin about the Russia-Ukraine war and what to do to resolve the issue.
Turkiye confirmed 27,671 new coronavirus cases, according to the Health Ministry. The latest data shows 170 related deaths and 50,241 recoveries recorded in the past day, with 348,146 virus tests conducted.
To counter the spread of the virus, Turkiye has administered nearly 146 million coronavirus vaccine doses since it launched an immunization drive in January 2021. More than 57.71 million people have received their first vaccine jab, while over 52.85 million have been immunized twice.

More than 1.5 million refugees have fled Ukraine to neighboring countries since the war with Russia began on Feb. 24, said the top UN refugee official.
At least 364 civilians have been killed and 759 others injured in Ukraine since the start of the Russian war, according to the UN’s human rights body.
At least eight civilians, including two children, were killed in a Russian attack on the city of Irpin near the Ukrainian capital, said Irpin Mayor Alexander Markushin.
Russia warned countries neighboring Ukraine against providing military airfields for Ukrainian combat aircraft.

The evacuation of an estimated 200,000 people in Ukraine’s embattled city of Mariupol “failed,” said the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
Amid fierce fighting with Russian forces, Ukrainian soldiers are making concerted efforts to evacuate civilians living in the city of Irpin, about 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) northwest of the capital Kyiv.
