ANKARA (AA) - Anadolu Agency is here with a rundown of the latest developments on the coronavirus pandemic and other news in Turkey and around the world.

- Coronavirus and other developments in Turkey

Turkey has administered over 100.3 million coronavirus vaccine shots since the country launched an immunization campaign in January, according to official figures released Thursday.

Over 50.9 million people have taken their first doses, while more than 39.6 million are fully vaccinated, the Health Ministry said.

The data showed that 81.6% of the country's adult population has received at least one dose of a two-shot vaccine.

Turkey has also given third booster shots to over 9.2 million people. The ministry also reported 23,846 new coronavirus cases, while 257 more people died of the disease in the past 24 hours.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is set to pay a four-day visit to the US to attend the 76th session of the UN General Assembly.

Turkey was forsaken in its efforts to prevent irregular migration, said the Turkish president.

Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu met the head of the Libyan High Council of State in Ankara.

Taiwan received another shipment of Pfizer/BioNTech coronavirus vaccines.

Japan decided Thursday to extend a coronavirus state of emergency until the end of September as the number of critically ill patients in the country remains high.

Boats carrying migrants from France to UK shores will be intercepted by British border forces and migrants will be pushed back, risking a row with French authorities, according to local reports.

Morocco's National Rally of Independents (RNI) won parliamentary elections, according to provisional results announced by the interior minister.

CIA Director William J. Burns met Pakistan's Army Chief Gen. Qamar Bajwa to discuss the latest situation in Afghanistan, Pakistan's military said.

Some 150 Afghan dual nationals left Afghanistan on Thursday for the US on a Qatar Airways flight.
