ASTANA / ISTANBUL (AA) - Anadolu will expand its training programs to support young journalists from Turkic states seeking to specialize in areas such as war reporting, Yusuf Ozhan, the news agency’s deputy director-general and editor-in-chief, said Thursday.
Speaking to Anadolu in the Kazakh capital Astana on the sidelines of the 2nd General Assembly of the Alliance of Turkic News Agencies (ATNA), which brings together the official news agencies of Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, Ozhan said “Anadolu is one of the leading organizations in drone journalism as well as in war reporting. In addition, we have Fact Check Line, Discrimination Line and Green Line.”
“These are fields of specialized journalism. We told the ATNA General Assembly that our doors are wide open to young journalists from Turkic states who want to specialize in these areas. We also stated that we are ready to support future projects in these fields,” he said.
Ozhan said that during Anadolu’s term presidency, the ATNA logo was adopted, an official website was launched, and various training and experience-sharing programs were organized for the staff of ATNA member news agencies.
“As Anadolu, we included many journalists from ATNA member countries in especially war reporting training during this period.”
Ozhan said the Organization of Turkic States “looks to the future with hope,” adding that ATNA sees it as “our natural duty to tell that story.”
“I believe that in the coming period, we will accelerate our efforts and move closer to this goal,” he said.
