Arab interior ministers convene in Algeria

Two-day meeting is being attended by interior ministers from 21 Arab League member states

ALGIERS (AA) - The 35th session of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers kicked off Wednesday in Algiers with the fight against terrorism, extremism and illegal migration topping the agenda of talks.

Algerian Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia chaired the opening session of the event, in which interior ministers from 21 Arab League member states are participating.

In an earlier statement, Algeria’s Interior Ministry said the meeting was aimed at “enhancing inter-Arab security cooperation with a view to confronting regional threats."

The two-day event is also being attended by delegations from Interpol, the UN’s office for combating terrorism, the Arab Maghreb Union and other regional and international organizations.
