Asian markets mixed at weekly close, European exchanges in positive territory

US futures indicate higher opening on Friday

ANKARA (AA) – Stock markets in Asia were mixed at close on Friday, while European stock exchanges were in positive territory.

The Asia Dow, which includes blue-chip companies in the region, was down 71 points, or 2.07%, to 3,393 at 1120 GMT.

Tokyo’s Nikkei 225 stock exchange lost 527 points, or 2.05%, to close at 25,162 points.

The Hang Seng, the benchmark for blue-chip stocks trading on the Hong Kong stock exchange, fell by 336 points, or 1.61%, to 20,553.

China’s Shanghai Stock Exchange, on the other hand, was up by 13 points, or 0.41%, to finish at 3,309.

India’s Sensex benchmark gained 85 points, or 0.15%, to close at 55,550.

The Singapore index increased by almost 9 points, or 0.28%, to end the day at 3,249.

In Europe, the STOXX Europe 600, which includes around 90% of market capitalization of the European market in 17 countries, was up by more than 3 points, or 0.71%, to 430.19 at 1123 GMT.

London’s FTSE 100 rose by 62 points, or 0.88%, to 7,160, while Germany’s DAX 30 was up 107 points, or 0.8%, to 13,550.

France’s CAC 40 increased by 23 points, or 0.37%, to 6,230, Italy's FTSE MIB gained 125 points, or 0.55%, to hit 23,011, and Spain’s IBEX 35 climbed by 41 points, or 0.51%, to 8,110.

In the US, futures indicated that indices will open with gains on Friday.

The Dow Jones futures were up 100 points, or 0.3%, to 33,144 at 1125 GMT.

The S&P futures rose 17 points, or 0.41%, to 4,264, while the Nasdaq futures increased by 58 points, or 0.44%, to 13,640.
