BOGOTA, Colombia / ISTANBUL (AA) - At least five people were killed and four others injured Saturday when a vehicle exploded outside a police station in Mexico's western Michoacan state.
The explosion took place for reasons not yet known in the town of Coahuayana, according to national media reports.
Two people in the vehicle and three police station personnel were killed in the blast, while four others were injured, some seriously.
Police officials said a large-scale investigation was launched to determine whether the vehicle was carrying explosive materials.
Initial assessments in media reports suggest the possibility that the exploded vehicle may have been loaded with chemical substances.
