At least 6 killed after protesters clash with police outside US Consulate in Pakistan's Karachi

Hundreds of protesters march toward diplomatic mission to protest assassination of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in US-Israel attack

KARACHI, Pakistan (AA) - At least six people were killed and several others injured in clashes between police and charged protesters who managed to enter the US Consulate in Pakistan's commercial capital Karachi on Sunday to protest the assassination of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in a joint US-Israel attack, an official confirmed.

Police surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed told Anadolu that six bodies with bullet wounds were brought to the Civil Hospital.

Police fired teargas and resorted to aerial firing as hundreds of protesters marched toward the US mission in the city's southern district.

Dozens managed to enter the consulate premises and smashed the windows of the reception, multiple videos shared on social media platforms showed.

Clashes between the two sides were continuing till the filing of this report.

According to Faisal Edhi, head of the Edhi Foundation, an ambulance and welfare service, eight people were killed and 30 were wounded.
