Award-winning movies eye Bosphorus Film fest Golden Dolphin

12 movies co-produced by TRT competing in 9th Bosphorus Film Festival

ISTANBUL (AA) - The opening of the 9th Bosphorus Film Festival in the Turkish metropolis Istanbul be feature Not So Friendly Neighborhood Affair, a movie by Bosnian director Danis Tanovic that had premiered at the 27th Sarajevo Film Festival in August.

Open to visitors in Istanbul from Oct. 23-30, the annual film festival will be held with the slogan Despite Everything, a reference to the novel coronavirus pandemic and its effects.

For National Feature, TRT co-productions Between Two Dawns and The Hoop will compete for a Golden Dolphin.

Corridor, an award-winning 2020 film, will also take part in the competition.

The Sacred Spirit, a Spanish production that premiered in the main competition section of the Locarno Film Festival, as well as The Hoop and Hungarian production Wild Roots which premiered at the Karlovy Film Festival, will also take part in the International Feature Competition Awards.

Two films from TRT will compete in the national competition, High Altitude or Awkwardness of the Things, directed by Turkish filmmaker Emir Kulal Haznevi, and Lifeline: The Brothers Who Hold the Same Breath produced and directed by Abdullah Sahin, will compete in the National Short Fiction Competition.

TRT Co-Production Award will be given to a project on the Pitching Platform, organized as part of the Bosphorus Film Lab, the industry section of the festival where projects at the scenario stage compete.

This year's jury of the Pitching Platform will include Cannes Film Festival Cinefodation Executive Director Georges Goldenstern, Polish Film Institute Film Production and Film Project Development Department Director Kamila Morgisz, and TRT Cinema Director Faruk Guven.

In total, 12 TRT co-productions are competing in the festival.
