ISTANBUL (AA) – Azerbaijan on Sunday expressed “deep concern” over the deteriorating situation following US strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

“We express deep concern over the further deterioration of the situation following the military actions by the United States targeting nuclear facilities in the Islamic Republic of Iran,” the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

“We call on all parties involved to exercise restraint, refrain from further escalation, and prioritize dialogue and diplomacy to address existing problems,” it added.

US President Donald Trump said earlier Sunday that American forces bombed three Iranian nuclear sites in Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan.

The attacks marked the latest escalation in a US-backed Israeli military assault on Iran that began on June 13, prompting Tehran to launch retaliatory attacks on Israel.

Israeli authorities said at least 25 people have been killed and hundreds injured in Iranian missile attacks since then.

Meanwhile, in Iran, 430 people have been killed and more than 3,500 wounded in the Israeli assault, according to the Iranian Health Ministry.
