ISTANBUL (AA) - Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received Slovenian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon in Baku on Thursday to discuss political and economic ties, the country’s state news agency AZERTAC reported.
During the meeting, both sides expressed satisfaction with the progress of bilateral relations and highlighted recent consultations between their foreign ministries.
Aliyev underscored Azerbaijan’s commitment to strengthening relations with Balkan countries, especially in energy cooperation with the region, including Slovenia.
Aliyev and Fajon also discussed enhancing economic and trade ties through greater interaction between business sectors.
The importance of the Middle Corridor – a trade route connecting Europe to Central Asia via the South Caucasus -- was noted as a strategic opportunity for Slovenian companies.
The two sides also explored potential collaboration between their respective ports.
The talks also included a broader exchange on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
