Azerbaijan’s prime minister meets Iranian vice president in Tehran

Leaders discuss economic, trade, and transportation cooperation

ISTANBUL (AA) – Azerbaijan’s Prime Minister Ali Asadov met with Iran’s First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref on Monday during a working visit to Tehran.

The two officials discussed bilateral relations and cooperation in various areas, including economy, trade, investment, transportation, energy, and humanitarian issues, according to state-run AZERTAC news agency.

They reviewed joint projects including the development of road and railway connections, the construction of the East Zangazur-Nakhchivan transportation corridor through Iranian territory, and the expansion of the North-South transport corridor.

The meeting also addressed environmental concerns regarding the Caspian Sea, including efforts to prevent pollution and water level decline, as well as regional cooperation on maritime issues.
