There was no comment from Iranian authorities on Bahraini claim

ISTANBUL (AA) – Bahraini security forces arrested suspected “terrorists” and confiscated weapons and explosives that had come from Iran, according to the country’s interior ministry on Monday.

It said the suspects had plotted terrorist operations “against security and civil peace”, the state news agency reported.

The ministry, however, did not specify how many people were arrested.

The ministry said weapons and explosives that had come from Iran were confiscated, adding that the suspects had links with “terrorist groups in Iran”.

There was no comment from the Iranian authorities on the claim.

Bahrain, which has a Muslim Shia majority population, severed relations with Iran in 2016 over accusations to Tehran of supporting Shia opposition groups in the country.
