WASHINGTON (AA) - Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa announced Wednesday that Bahrain will invest $17 billion in the US via a series of unspecified business agreements.
"We're very happy to be announcing $17 billion worth deals that are coming to the United States. And this is real. These aren't fake deals. They are real deals," bin Hamad Al Khalifa, who also serves as Bahrain's prime minister, said in the Oval Office as he was hosted by President Donald Trump.
The investment is the latest from Gulf nations after Trump touted a number of hundred-billion-dollar agreements when he visited the region in May.
The exact figure and type of the new Bahraini investments were not immediately clear, but Trump said they total "over $16 trillion."
