DHAKA, Bangladesh (AA) - A Bangladeshi court on Monday handed down the death penalty to 10 members of a banned militant outfit for a bomb attack on a political rally 19 years ago.
Two people were acquitted as charges against them were not proven, local daily Prothom Alo reported.
Six of the convicts are absconding, the report added.
The bombing on a rally in the capital Dhaka in 2001 was carried out by outlawed Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami. It left five people dead and wounded 50 others.
