ISTANBUL (AA) – Three EuroLeague fixtures scheduled for this week have been postponed due to coronavirus cases among the teams, organizers said on Tuesday.

Zenit St. Petersburg’s game against AX Armani Exchange Milan and ALBA Berlin’s match against TD Systems Baskonia, both scheduled for Thursday, were called off due to COVID-19 cases in the Zenit and Berlin squads.

As a result, both sides will be unable to field enough players for their respective games.

The third game was Friday's clash between Turkish team Anadolu Efes and virus-hit French side ASVEL.

“Anadolu Efes Istanbul vs. LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne, originally scheduled to be played on Friday, October 23, has been suspended,” read a EuroLeague statement.

“ASVEL requested the suspension of the game due to multiple COVID-19 positive cases that do not allow the team to have a minimum eight players … fit to play.”

The statement said EuroLeague Basketball will coordinate with the teams to reschedule their games and announce alternative dates when confirmed.
