Belarus, Azerbaijan discuss ways to deepen defense cooperation

Top military officials highlight prospects for expanding ties, address regional security issues

ISTANBUL (AA) - Defense officials of Belarus and Azerbaijan held talks in Minsk on Monday to explore ways to strengthen bilateral military cooperation, according to statements from the defense ministries of both countries.

Azerbaijani Chief of the General Staff Col. Gen. Kerim Veliyev met Belarusian counterpart Maj. Gen. Pavel Muraveyko.

The sides discussed the current state of defense relations and outlined steps to intensify cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Meetings, held in both one-on-one and extended formats, addressed opportunities for expanding joint activities as well as regional security issues.

The officials also exchanged views on broader topics concerning bilateral and regional defense cooperation.
