ANKARA (AA) - Belgian winger Eden Hazard on Wednesday announced his retirement from international football after 14 years.

"A page turns today… Thank you for your love. Thank you for your unparalleled support. Thank you for all this happiness shared since 2008. I have decided to put an end to my international career. The succession is ready. I will miss you…," Hazard said on Instagram.

His announcement came days after Belgium’s group-stage elimination at the World Cup in Qatar.

The 31-year-old winger, who currently plays for Real Madrid, amassed 126 international caps to score 33 goals for Belgium.

Hazard clinched a bronze medal in the 2018 FIFA World Cup as Belgium finished the tournament in the third spot.

He won local titles with France's Lille, England's Chelsea and Spain's Real Madrid, as well as the top-tier UEFA Champions League with Real Madrid last season.
