Bhutan conference discusses role of artificial intelligence in mediation

Opening ceremony attended by over 400 people including 200 from foreign countries

Hundreds of participants from different countries have gathered in Thimphu, capital of Bhutan, to discuss the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in mediation.

The four-day international conference, organized by the Centre for Bhutan & GNH Studies (CBS), in collaboration with the Central Monastic Body of Bhutan, began on Tuesday with key topics include role of AI in mediation.

On the first day of the conference, over 400 people attended, including 200 international participants from the US, India,Thailand, Latvia, South Africa, Ukraine, Mexico, Venezuela, Russia, Hungary and other countries.

Over 60 foreign speakers are scheduled to address the event.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay welcomed the participants and called the role of modern science in mediation necessary.

"If the mind is restless, relationships suffer. If the heart is heavy, even the best technology can't bring peace. So, this gathering, where science meets meditation, where research meets ancient wisdom, is not just timely. It's necessary,” he said.
