BAGHDAD – A bomb explosion has injured 17 Iraqi soldiers in the western city of Fallujah, according to a local police officer on Tuesday.
A device exploded as a military force was clearing mines in Naimiyah, south of Fallujah, captain Ahmed al-Dulaimi told Anadolu Agency.
He said some of the injured soldiers were in a serious condition.
Although no group has yet claimed responsibility, Iraqi authorities often blame such attacks on the Daesh terrorist group.
In late 2017, officials in Baghdad declared that Daesh's military presence in Iraq had been all but destroyed following a three-year war with the notorious terrorist group.
