BAGHDAD (AA) – A military convoy carrying logistics for the US-led coalition against the Daesh/ISIS terror group came under attack in southern Iraq on Sunday, according to a local security source.

A roadside bomb exploded as the convoy was moving on a highway near the city of Nasiriyah in the southern Dhi Qar province, the source said on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media.

A military vehicle sustained minor damage in the attack, but no injuries were reported.

There was no comment from the US-led coalition or Iraqi authorities on the report.

Recent months saw a spate of attacks targeting US-led coalition convoys in central and southern Iraq.

Washington accuses Iran-backed Iraqi groups of being behind the attacks, an accusation denied by Tehran.
