BIST 100 index falls 6.3 points, Turkish lira gains value against foreign currencies

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened at 2,536.79 points on Monday, falling 0.25%, or 6.32 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up by 1.23% to close at 2,571.57 points on Friday, with a daily trading volume of 46.5 billion Turkish liras ($2.7 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped to 17.1027 as of 10.35 a.m. local time (0735GMT), from 17.2250 at last week's close.

The euro/lira exchange rate decreased to 18.0320 from 18.3610, while a British pound traded for 21.0282 Turkish liras, down from 21.6420 at the previous close.

Brent crude oil was sold for around $119.39 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,863.5.
