Borsa Istanbul starts Thursday at over 5,000 points

BIST 100 index gains nearly 70 points at opening session

ISTANBUL (AA) – Türkiye’s benchmark stock index opened at a record high of 5,046.30 points on Thursday, up 1.38%, or 68.66 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index was up 0.31% to hit an all-time closing peak of 4,977.64 points on Wednesday, with a daily trading volume of 120.3 billion Turkish liras ($6.5 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 18.6387 as of 10.15 a.m. local time (0715GMT), and the euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 19.4732, while a British pound traded for 22.5516 Turkish liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $86.89 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,793.80.
