ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,156.74 points on Thursday, increasing 0.38% or 4.33 points from the previous close.
At the previous close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was down 0.11% at 1,152.41 points, with a daily trading volume of 17.26 billion Turkish liras ($2.2 billion).
The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 7.8890 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), versus 7.8650 at the previous close.
The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also increased to 9.2970 from 9.2490, while one British pound traded for 10.2320 Turkish liras, up from 10.1540.
One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $42.30 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
