BIST 100 index gains over 12 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened at 3,988.77 points on Thursday, up 0.31%, or 12.41 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index went up slightly by 1.35 points, or 0.03%, on Wednesday to close at 3,976.36, with a daily trading volume of 64.3 billion Turkish liras ($3.4 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was at 18.6112 as of 10.10 a.m. local time (0710GMT), the euro/Turkish lira exchange rate was at 18.7998, and a British pound traded for 21.5880 Turkish liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $93.55 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,668.60.

On Wednesday, Brent crude oil rose more than 3% to $94, the highest in the last two weeks, after US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that an agreement on oil with Iran is not possible in the short term.
