LONDON (AA) - Oscar nominee British actor Albert Finney died aged 82 on Friday.
"Albert Finney, aged 82, passed away peacefully after a short illness with those closest to him by his side. The family request privacy at this sad time," Finney's family said.
British media said that Finney died from chest infection as he had been in a London hospital for the past month.
Nominated for five Oscars during his career, Finney has acted in at least 60 movies including Murder On The Orient Express, The Dresser, Under the Volcano and Erin Brockovich.
In 2012, he appeared in a James Bond film Skyfall.
In addition to his Oscar nominations, Finney won two Bafta (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) awards.
