ISTANBUL (AA) - The UK economy shrank by 0.3% in April on a monthly basis, higher than expectations, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) announced on Thursday.
The market expectation was at minus 0.1% for the country's gross domestic product (GDP).
"Monthly services output fell by 0.4% in April 2025, following growth of 0.4% in March 2025, and was the largest contributor to the fall in GDP in the month," the ONS said.
Production output fell by 0.6% in April 2025, following a fall of 0.7% in March 2025, it said.
Construction output grew by 0.9% in April 2025, following growth of 0.5% in March 2025.
