LONDON (AA) - A member of British armed forces who died in Ukraine has been identified as 28-year-old Lance Corporal George Hooley from the Parachute Regiment, the Defense Ministry said Wednesday.
The ministry said Tuesday that a member of the armed forces died in Ukraine after he was injured in a "tragic accident" while observing Ukrainian forces test a new defensive capability, away from the front lines.
"Our thoughts are with Lance Corporal Hooley's family and friends at this incredibly difficult time," said the ministry.
The UK previously confirmed that there was a "small number" of British army personnel "supporting the armed forces of Ukraine."
The BBC reported that the incident is not thought to have been caused by hostile fire.
