BEIRUT (AA) – The Lebanese authorities on Thursday condemned the burning of a Turkish flag by Lebanese-Armenian protesters in Beirut last month.

“Lebanon condemns such a behavior, which harms both Lebanon and its people,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The ministry went on to describe the burning of Turkish flags, or the verbal harassment of Turkish diplomats, as “unacceptable”.

On April 24, a group of Lebanese-Armenian protesters set fire to a Turkish flag during a demonstration held in the Lebanese capital.

The incident was roundly condemned at the time by the Turkish embassy in Beirut and Lebanese citizens of Turkish descent.
