Boeing 737 plane crashes in Tengxian county of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, state media reports

ISTANBUL (AA) - Casualties are feared as a Chinese passenger plane carrying 133 people crashed in mountains in southern China on Monday, state media reported.

The Boeing 737 plane of China Eastern Airlines crashed in the Tengxian county of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, state-run Global Times reported.

A fire erupted at the site.

"At present, rescue teams have been deployed and are approaching the crash site," the daily said.

The plane took off from Kunming Changshui airport in the Yunnan province at 1:15 p.m. local time (0500GMT) and was scheduled to arrive in Guangzhou in the Guangdong province at 3:07 p.m. local time (0700GMT), it added.
