China launches remote sensing satellites

Satellites to conduct electromagnetic environment monitoring, related technical experiments

ISTANBUL (AA) - China launched a new group of remote sensing satellites on Sunday from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in northern Shanxi province, state-run Xinhua News reported.

The Yaogan-40 03 group of satellites lifted off at 12.34 am (0434GMT) aboard a modified Long March-6 carrier rocket and entered designated orbits.

The satellites are intended to conduct electromagnetic environment monitoring along with related technical experiments.

The launch marks the 593rd mission by the Long March series of carrier rockets.
